Several projects were tackled at Ledge View Nature Center in 2010.
Thanks to Rawhide Boys Ranch and Americorps volunteers, raised timber beds were built and put in place for the park’s arboretum.
The Calumet County Groundwater Guardians built a cedar split rail fence to surround the Katie Hemauer Memorial Rain Garden.
The prairie areas were burned to encourage forbs and grasses and prevent woody growth.
The crumbling old chimney on the maple syruping shack was replaced with a new one. Friends of LVNC built two new snowshoe racks for the park—they are awesome!
After a lot of fundraising, the park now has a solar panel.
Railings at Bat Sink got a new paint job, thanks to members of the Wisconsin Speleological Society.
Parking stops were installed.
The family of longtime WSS members Keith and Betty Brown sponsored new cave signage at Bat Sink.
And early in 2011, Friends of LVNC members built a great wood shed for the maple syruping program.
