K-9 Unit

Amer and Alek by squad

The Calumet County Sheriff's Office established its K-9 Unit in 2016, which was made possible by donations from generous individuals and businesses from throughout the area. Since then K-9 Amer and his handler, Deputy Pearson, have been tracking down criminals and taking drugs off our streets.

In 2021, once again our community came through and gave us the ability to add a second K9.  Joining K9 Amer is K9 Alek.  K9 Alek chose Deputy Matuszak of the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office as his handler.  Together, our K9 Unit has taken many illegal drugs off the streets in an effort to keep our community safe.  Our K9’s have also been a further asset to our area by visiting schools, businesses, and other civic organizations.  We are proud of our K9 Unit and the impact they have had in our community.

If you wish to donate to this worthy cause or have any questions, please contact Sheriff Mark Wiegert at (920) 849-2335.
