Effective immediately, Calumet County Circuit Court is temporarily stepping back in its operating plan. There will be NO in-person hearings until further notice. Any scheduled in-person hearing should call in for a phone conference.
There will be a staff member at the entrance to ensure anyone arriving will be turned away and instructed to call in instead.
Circuit Court Responsibilities
The Calumet County Circuit Court consists of one branch and is part of the state court system. It is the court’s purpose to hear and determine, within Calumet County, all civil and criminal actions and proceedings unless exclusive jurisdiction is given to another court.
Court Commissioner Responsibilities
The purpose of the Court Commissioners, appointed by the Circuit Judge, is to aid in minimizing court delays by handling certain cases as directed by the Judge. The Circuit Court Commissioners assist the judiciary by handling criminal, traffic, small claims, and other hearings. The Family Court Commissioner handles family court matters including divorce, abuse injunctions, child support enforcement and small claims cases.
